Fly Fishing Guides and Instruction

Metro Anglers

Metro Anglers is the original Fly Fishing guide service for the Houston metropolitan area.

Mark Marmon has been fly fishing for over 40 years and instructing casting for 18 years. Mark developed the "Urban Fly Fishing" opportunities in and around Houston, Texas over the last 22 years and guiding the Guadalupe River in central Texas for 10 years. Mark has fly fished over most of the western United States, Caribbean, Mexico and Iceland. He is well informed by a network of colleagues in both fresh and saltwater guides; specifically in Texas and throughout the United States.

Mark is involved in promoting fly fishing on both local and national levels. He is a past board member of the Texas Fly Fishers' Club, Houston, Vice-President of Fisheries for the Guadalupe Chapter of Trout Unlimited and founding Board Member of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers. He also is a Certified Casting Instructor and member of the Guide's Association. He is a fellow member of IGFA.

Mark casts both single and double handed fly rods. He has achieved one International Game Fish Association World Record and nine Texas State Fly Fishing/Water Body records.

Mark gives presentations on fly fishing or casting demonstrations to any organization requesting assistance at no cost. He believes that if one new fly fisherman can be introduced to the sport, then that person will be one more conservation-minded individual on the water.

Mark has been featured in numerous national and international magazines and reference books. Mark's fly tying abilities have been captured on the web and flies are available. He has been filmed for DVD/video and is currently working on a book to help fly fishermen know more about what to expect when utilizing a professional guide.

Mark is currently supported by several fly product manufacturers including Thomas and Thomas Rodmakers and is the first Fly Fishing Pro Staff member for Bass Pro Shops, Inc.
